Full Moon in Aries

The full moon reaches fullness in the archetype of the trailblazer and warrior — Aries. This lunation marks the first full moon of the fall, and the last full moon before eclipse season begins. As a reminder, eclipses tend to bring about an energy of re-alignment, meaning that they naturally usher in changes meant to happen in our lives whether it’s an ending or a new beginning.

The full moon sits opposite the sun in Libra, the archetype of the peacemaker and lover. To understand this full moon, we first need to grasp Aries and Libra. Aries represents the self while Libra represents the other. Aries is the inner warrior in all of us while Libra acts as the referee, which is why it's known as the archetype of the diplomat. It’s the part of us that doesn’t feel the need to take sides and can hold opposing views.

The Aries full moon acts as a spotlight on the quality and function of our inner warrior or, in other words, our ability to be courageous and develop initiative. Aries is composed of the same attributes as its planetary ruler, Mars, which represents our assertiveness, passion, courageousness, and drive. Aries, like a warrior, is here to make their presence known, claim what belongs to them, and direct their energy toward what they believe is worth fighting for. At its core, Aries is the part of us that knows “I have the right to exist, I have the right to be here.”  And sometimes, you have to fight for those rights.

This lunation is governed by Mars in Libra which sits opposite the moon in Aries. While action-oriented and fiery Mars is said to be in detriment in Libra due to Libra’s compromising nature, Mars in Libra can serve as a reminder of where we may need to aim for balance when it comes to our personal desires and needs (Aries) versus our relational needs (Libra). Mars in Libra speaks to fighting for fairness and harmony in relationships;  however, the key lies in creating true harmony, not false harmony, which comes from sharing your true self, needs, and feelings. This is how our inner Aries and Libra come together to form genuine relationships that honor each other’s authenticity.

Adding another layer to this, Pluto, the planet of transformaion, is also in friction with Mars, and the south and north node of the moon in Libra and Aries, respectively, which is where the upcoming eclipses will be taking place. Pluto symbolizes our inner transformation and truth. It speaks to delving into our woundedness so that we can transform, heal, and emerge as a more empowered and authentic version of ourselves.

As full moons represent the end of a cycle and the release of what no longer serves us, the release point that is being illuminated this full moon is letting go of people-pleasing tendencies and compromising our authenticity (shadow side of Libra), and instead developing the courage to show up as our authentic selves (Aries) not only in relationships but in all aspects of our lives. The full moon in Aries is here to remind us that being your authentic self is a shortcut to magnetizing the people and experiences that are meant for you. Aries serves as a powerful reminder that that no relationship or circumstance is worth compromising our true selves over.

Reflections:

  • What limiting beliefs about yourself, ones that are rooted in “I’m too much” or “I’m not enough” do you need to release?

  • Do you tend to compromise yourself, your needs, and your feelings in relationships, and how can you show up more honestly and authentically?

  • What are ways that you can tend to your inner warrior/courage/fire? Is it through believing in yourself and taking the necessary steps to go after what you want? Is it through expressing yourself more authentically? Is it through speaking up instead of going along with the crowd?

  • When it comes to your relationships (platonic, romantic, familial) how can you balance honoring both your needs and the needs of the relationships? How can you cultivate more harmony?

New Moon in Virgo

The sun and moon come together in Virgo, the archetype of the analyst and mentor. Virgo is associated with our daily rituals, routines, health, and the skill sets we develop that make a difference in the lives of others. Virgo’s vitality lies in devoting itself to meaningful work. The lesson that Virgo grants is that magic is found in the mundane and that becoming skilled at something is only realized through daily practice.

This lunation is in harmony with Uranus which symbolizes change, innovation, and freedom. Uranus can act both as a bolt of sudden realization and can inspire us to make a radical change. Being that Uranus is in the sign of Taurus, we are invited to rely on our inner instincts (Taurus) and make changes that are coming from a grounded and instinctual level rather than from an over-analytical and critical place, which speaks to the lower or shadow expression of Virgo.

Adding another layer to this, the new moon sits opposite Neptune, the planet of consciousness, in Pisces which echoes the notion of trusting our intuition and inner knowing. Neptune adds an air of gentleness to this new moon meaning that it serves as a much-needed reminder to be gentle with anything we may be wrestling with internally or mentally as we prepare to make any changes. As Virgo energy tends to aim for perfection and can be critical of the self, Neptune reminds us that offering ourselves a generous dose of compassion and love is the remedy to soothe an over-analytical mind (Mercury/Virgo) and nervous system.

The new moon is also in harmony with Pluto, the planet of transformation, which speaks to coming face-to-face with yourself and being honest about what is and isn’t working. While some truths about ourselves, can be a hard pill to swallow, it is through acceptance that we can make improvements and transform (Pluto) into our true potential (Virgo).

This lunation is also supported by Jupiter, the planet of faith, which asks us to take a chance on ourselves and root into the belief that we are capable of creating avenues of fulfillment in our lives whether that’s relaxation, healthy relationships, or bringing a passion project to life. Jupiter invites us to believe that we’re worthy while simultaneously creating a foundation (Taurus) that is built upon having the proper daily habits and routines (Virgo) that we can stand and rest on for support. As we move through this process, we must listen to the voice within us that gently nudges and guides our journey.

Shifting our attention to Mercury, which stations direct September 15, after being retrograde since August 23, we may find mental clarity and insights unfolding within the coming weeks. This is also the last lunation of the summer as we head into fall and Libra season on September 22. Fall invites us to start slowing down, reflect, accept change, and let go as reflected in the changing and shedding of autumn leaves.

As new moons are symbolic of new beginnings, ask yourself: what are you wrapping up and where are you planting new intentions or seeking a new beginning? What needs to be shed or what do you need to let go of to make space for a fresh

Full Moon in Pisces

A full blue moon rises in the archetype of the mystic, dreamer, and visionary. Pisces’ evolutionary goal is to teach the heart to identify with its soul or consciousness rather than personality. It is through exploring the ocean of consciousness within through meditation, creating, envisioning, and spending time in solitude that Pisces connects with its boundless self.

As with all full moons, they sit opposite the sun. While Pisces (moon) represents all things ethereal, mystical, and spiritual, Virgo (sun) represents the practical and mundane such as our daily routines, habits, and skill sets. For Virgo, creating a daily flow that is orderly and streamlined is a meditative ritual. By implementing and following our daily rituals and routines, we can move through our day with clarity and precision, accomplish what we set out to do, and feel an overall sense of meaning and purpose in the process. This is Virgo’s domain.

Feeling like you’re a part of something that is greater than yourself is the thread that connects Virgo and Pisces. For Virgo, being of service in a way that is meaningful and impactful is life-giving, and for Pisces that realization comes when they begin to understand that they are not just the body they reside in but rather they are a part of something much greater, vast, and mysterious; — something that can’t be touched, but rather felt and experienced within.

This lunation is conjunct Saturn, which represents limitations, restrictions, and challenges. Saturn is symbolic of the next developmental stage. It’s about letting go of a certain way of being or doing and taking on a more mature way of doing things. Saturn can feel restricting because it challenges us to grow. At the root, Saturn challenges us to rise up to our true potential instead of bathing in comfort and familiarity. Saturn is the part of you that sees the greatness contained in you, but to get there, you have to put in the time and effort. That’s taskmaster Saturn.

So how do we bring our potential and visions to reality? The answer lies with earthly Virgo and Saturn. Virgo knows that our habits become us. So, ask yourself, what habits do you need to implement or do away with to grow into the person you envision yourself being? What self-care practices and rituals can you weave into your day that will allow room for rest, meditation, and rejuvenation, so that you can carry out your meaningful work? And can you commit to this process even when it feels difficult? Growth is often challenging, but “to transform into something beautiful takes work and faith. This is Pisces, Virgo, and Saturn working in unison through the process of envisioning (Pisces), implementing daily practices and rituals (Virgo), and staying disciplined and committed (Saturn).

With that said, during this full moon, remember to connect to the part of you (aka Pisces) that understands that you are more than what you perceive yourself to be. You are not your limitations. You are not your past. You are not your self-limiting beliefs. You are exactly who you envision yourself in your heart to be.

New Moon in Leo

The sun and moon arrive together in the archetype of the child and performer. Leos’ evolutionary goal is to cultivate their authentic self-expression by having the courage to share with the world that which they hold most dear to their heart. Ruled by the sun, which represents our identity, Leo is empowered by being true to themselves, their authenticity, and their heart.

Leo radiates creativity warmth, and playfulness; its heart is at the center of everything it does. New moons represent a time for new beginnings as it marks the beginning of a new lunar cycle. Being that the new moon is in Leo, this is a time to set heart centered intentions — intentions that are in resonance with our heart’s true desires, rather than setting intentions that only look good on the surface

Meeting yourself in that place takes both courage and vulnerability. It takes courage to sit with your heart and be vulnerable about what you truly desire for yourself. Not only what you desire, but what you deserve. As the new moon is close to Venus retrograde, the theme of listening to the quiet but palpable pull of our hearts is magnified.

The new moon is in friction with Uranus, known as the planet of sudden changes. Uranus as an archetype is the part of us that wants to experiment and deviate from the norm. Being that the moon represents our emotions, and Uranus represents change, we may be feeling the urge to break free from the comfort of what’s familiar and start a new; however being that Uranus is in Taurus, it’s important that any changes we seek to make are not led by an emotionally reactive heart, but from a grounded and peaceful one.

Adding to this, Uranus in Taurus is in harmony with Mars, the planet of action, in Virgo which lends itself to approaching any pending changes with mindfulness. Virgo has a penchant for being thorough and precise, for combing through the fine print, so it’s best to map out a plan or take a methodical approach rather than making any rapid changes. Above all, it’s essential that we stay true to our heart and authenticity as we navigate these changes.
